PROJECT
MOULD REMEDIATION PROJECT
The project entailed the meticulous demolition of mold-affected units in a high-rise building, from Level 17 down to Level 1. The task was to demolish four units per level each week, with a structured schedule of four days dedicated to demolition followed by two days for thorough cleaning. The demolition process involved the careful removal and storage of salvageable items, the dismantling of fixtures and fittings, and the removal of plasterboard ceilings, wall linings, and floor coverings. Following the demolition, each unit was subjected to an intensive cleaning regimen, including HEPA-vacuuming and surface wiping, with a hygienist verifying the cleanliness and decontamination of all surfaces.
The project was executed by a team of 15 skilled employees, supported by site managers and supervisors, who adhered to a daily protocol that began with a 6:30 AM pre-start meeting in the basement car park and comprehensive PPE checks by the WHS Officer. Waste management was handled with precision, involving the manual loading of waste into 660L wheelie bins covered with heavy-duty plastic, which were then transported using a dedicated, protected passenger lift to ensure contamination control. The project was notably completed two weeks ahead of schedule, demonstrating exceptional planning and execution while maintaining rigorous safety and hygiene standards in a live facility environment.
